Toro, Zamora, Spain
Wine from the Toro region of Spain dates back hundreds of years, noted by Royalty and explorers such as Christopher Columbus. Well-crafted long lasting Toro wines could last the journey to America as well as satisfy the most noble palate. “Tinta de Toro” a special name for Tempranillo, still maintains some of its oldest 100-year-old wines. A dry windy territory protected by the Guereña River, the vines of Toro makes luscious, traditional full-bodied reds. Viñaguareña derives its name from the “vine of the Guereña” river. The current owners have worked the land since 1999 with Capi Endogo, the winemaker, since 2017. Capi has also added Verdejo made from 100 year old vines nearby to the line. Steeped in history, Toro wines are something special and Viñaguareña exudes the best of Toro.
