Tem pranillo Vines

Aranda del Duero, Burgos, Spain

Linaje Garsea was founded by 7 brothers all dedicated to creating the best wines in Ribera del Duero. They take the extra steps to keep yields low by pruning twice in the fall to put the best grapes first along with the health and sustainability of the vine. They are dedicated to the natural rhythm of the vineyard without the use of herbicides. They maintain 51 hectares of tempranillo grapes with vines up to 45 years old.

They utilize a combination of oak for their barrels, American from Kentucky and Missouri, French from Vosge and Alier, Hungarian and Spanish. All the wines are various presentations of the “Tinta de País” or tempranillo.

We spent time with Gabriel Garcia Agudo, the winery sommelier and historian with a delightful personality. Gabriel was instrumental in the development of the award-winning line of Archangelus Gabrihel, a biblical reference to his name and homage to his religious studies (Archangel Gabriel.) The 3 wines are aged in American, French and Spanish Oak respectively which give each a unique flavor profile. Gabriel is the town historian and literally has been entrusted with keys to the city of Aranda del Duero.

Along with the vineyard, the family owns a hotel with a restaurant and wine/gift shop on the property, El Ventorro, should you arrange a visit.
