Vinca Albret

Albret Vineyards1

Cadreita, Navarra, Spain

Founded on limited production, Finca Albret is a small boutique winery in Navarra, born from the large wine producer, Principe de Viana. The name “Albret” honours the last King of Navarra, Juan de Albret (1469-1516). The best grapes are raised for Finca Albret under the discerning eye of winemaker, Pablo Pavez. He takes as much pride in this boutique winery as a small family estate owner. The terroir of each plot has a distinct characteristic and so the wines are named to celebrate each vineyard area.

The climate is harsh, cold in winter and simmering in summer. The area is so dry and dusty that occasional sprinkling of the vines is allowed.

Navarra is known for granacha, indigenous to the area. Many wine critics believe the best garnacha is grown in Navarra which produce some of the best quality rosés. Also grown at Albret is Cabernet Sauvignon in which the best grapes go into Viña de Mi Madre, Vines of my Mother. The winery has also received accolades from their Tempranillos, Merlots, and Chardonnays.
